Free labor is an excellent qualification, and I know of hundreds of under-resourced organizations in the space that could use the help. I can’t give you ideas for jobs, companies, or people to talk to until you’re clear on what you’ve done, what you want to do, and what you’re qualified to do.īonus points if this is already clear from your LinkedIn profile! Ocean Wind 1 Receives Federal Record of Decision Read more about how this positive decision kickstarts New Jersey’s first offshore wind farm. We look forward to bringing reliable, affordable, and most importantly clean energy to New Jersey while creating hundreds of jobs and spurring millions of dollars in economic investments. I’m also grateful for the support of our partners with the State of New Jersey. On behalf of Ørsted, I thank the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management for conducting the thorough and comprehensive environmental review process, and for giving our project the green light to start construction and remain on schedule. On track to be up and running by 2025, Ocean Wind 1 will deliver enough clean energy to power half a million New Jersey homes, create family-sustaining jobs and heavy local investments. Successfully clearing this critical hurdle in the federal environmental review is a major milestone for Ørsted, the State of New Jersey, and our efforts to fight climate change. #furious #supremecourt #americaisbetterthanthis #beAtentoĪfter years of extensive review, today our Ocean Wind 1 team received a positive Record of Decision from the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management. We cannot control the courts, but we can control our actions from here. I implore all who read this to actively seek out organizations like HBCUvc to support, collaborate with and invest in. I can’t help but feel that post this Supreme Court decision, HBCUVC’s work is more important today, than it already was just yesterday. I was inspired by their dedication to shaping the formation and equitable distribution of capital to expand opportunities for Black and historically excluded communities. Just a few weeks ago, we hosted our friends at HBCUvc’s annual retreat. Can we, at the very least, commit to doing our utmost to compensate for this systemic setback? It is crucial for each one of us, beyond the education system, to thoroughly reexamine the lens we employ when making decisions regarding hiring, promotions, investments, and other areas we have control over. Regrettably, today's ruling reveals that our highest courts lack the empathetic, inclusive, and just perspective that our predecessors once possessed. Can we confidently say they have equal opportunities to perform as well in class let alone their SATs or ACTs with those differences in mind? The resilience and grit shown by individuals from north Tulsa should be considered separately from those who attended private or well-resourced public schools in south Tulsa, where success was more readily available (which, to be honest, reflects my own upbringing in LA). Factors such as access to safe housing, consistent food, reliable internet, ACT/SAT tutoring, and 20 other leading indicators, can significantly impact a young person's ability to study and succeed in education. Statistics show that those born in north Tulsa, will live 12 years less, make half the income, and have a 33% poverty rate vs. Take Tulsa, for example: Demographically split between the north and south with majority minority populations living in the north. However, we are now suggesting that our universities, whose historical track record led to the implementation of affirmative action policies in the first place, will be the ones to break this cycle. a Caucasian one? Is the average venture investor providing equal investment opportunities to a Latin founder, whose native language may not be English, compared to a Caucasian founder who grew up in Silicon Valley, assuming all other factors are equal? The data indicates that the answer is no for both cases. Do we truly feel our police are color-blind in pulling over a black driver vs. It deeply troubles me that "color blindness for all" can be mentioned when racism is generationally and systematically woven into our country’s history and still so prevalent today. Today, the Supreme Court made a disappointing decision to essentially reverse half a century of affirmative action progress in America.
